COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS AND NATIONWIDE
ARENA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL INTERNSHIPS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

-Video Production Internship Columbus Destroyers- This position will be responsible for shooting games and practices for Columbus Destroyers' coaching staff, learning camera set-up and settings, creating and distributing DVDs to coaches and opponents, and creating Window Media files used for Internet exchage.  Position will run January-July, must have home game availability.

- Ticket Operations-Position will require intern to assist with the operation of the box office on game nights, providing customer service to our fans, and processing ticket requests.  Internship will also require general administrative work including data entry, and maintaining and organizing files.  Candidate should posses’ strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills.  Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.  Intern should also demonstrate a professional attitude and the ability to work independently while handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.

The mission of our internship program is to attract outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines who have a clear interest and commitment to a career in sports and entertainment venue marketing/management. We feel we can offer candidates an opportunity to gain college credit while attaining the skills and experience to compete for positions in a variety of related industries.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are accepted at all times for internships, although internships may not be available at the time of application.  Please see below for typical timelines.  If you apply during a time period that we do not have internships available, please allow at least 4-5 weeks for a response to your application.  Your application will be kept on file until the next internship opportunty becomes available.

Internships are typically filled on the following timeline:
    Summer Internships (May - August) are filled in February/March.
    Season-long Internships (September - April) are filled in July/August.

To apply for an internship position, each candidate should submit a formal application. 

A formal application consists of all of the following items:

A. Completed Internship Application. Right-click to download Internship Application.
B. Current resume.
C. Two (2) letters of reference, one (1) of which should be written by a professor or teacher of choice addressing skills acquired and general aptitude. These letters need to be sent as part of the application, not separately.
D. Typed answers to the following questions:
  1. What do you hope to achieve in your internship? (50 words or less)
  2. What skills do you bring to this internship and what skills are you looking to refine? (50 words or less)
  3. What areas of our industry are of particular interest to you? (50 words or less)
  4. What are your strengths (please give specific examples of work, school or internship experience)? (50 words or less)
  5. Why did you decide to pursue this industry as a career? (50 words or less)

All of the items must be sent at the same time in one envelope in order to be considered.

We will interview candidates whose credentials, experience and interests are most equivalent to the available internship position.

If applicants are not selected for interview, or there is no position available which matches their experience or interest, a notification will be sent via U.S. mail or email within approximately 3-4 weeks of receiving your application.  If you are concerned whether your application was received, please send your application in a form that may be tracked (US Mail Return/Receipt, UPS, FedEx, etc.), as we are not able to accomodate phone calls regarding receipt of applications.
